Jeans Through the Ages

Jeans have been around since 1873, but didn't actually become popular outside the workforce until the 1950s when the youth took them over. We can basically thank the cool factor of James Dean for the jeans explosion, except during his era, wearing jeans was a sign of rebellion and was quickly banned from being worn in theaters and restaurants. It wasn't long before the denim trend took over and from then on it was an all out fashion love affair.

Although women in the 50's didn't often wear jeans; Audrey Hepburn, Sandra Dee, and Marilyn Monroe wore the 50's fashion of slim, close fitting pants that had the same sexy silhouette as today's skinnies. By the 60's women's jeans were

History of Blue Jeans in America

Many people are aware of the roots that blue jeans have in America. They are a symbol of everything America is supposed to be: free from the status quo. It is nearly impossible to distinguish social and economic status of any individual wearing a pair of them. They are the invention of Jacob Davis, but were made famous by the entrepreneur Loeb Strauss who later changed his name to Levi. On May 7th, 1873 the patent for them was received from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Jacob Davis had invented the riveted pockets of the
